Au Pair Foundation administers a Department of State J-1 visa au pair program. Viella developed the program from the ground up. Within three months, the content outlined below was designed and written. The result was a quality foundation that could support growth in a rapidly expanding industry.

This government regulated program requires detailed information and regulations to be communicated to native and non-native speakers. The challenge of doing this from a distance was overcome by developing the following comprehensive materials.

Database design: The complexity of the 12 month program required a comprehensive flow chart:

Community Representative Training and Supervision
A local representative had to be within one hour's driving distance of the Au Pair home. Since placements were made nationwide, training and screening had to be done from a distance. The following materials were developed to assist in the process:

Au Pair Training and Preparation. Au Pairs are recruited from around the world. A series of detailed documents were created to screen, inform and train applicants for the challenging job of being an au pair for an American family.

Au Pair Application Packets: All these had to be filled out and verified. Packet includes, contract, reference forms, application form and pre-departure project. Download here

Au Pair In Country Training and Orientation. Every selected au pair must undergo 32 hours of training upon entry to the United States. The curriculum must cover concepts outlined by the Department of State. Viella designed the curriculum for this 32 hour training in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

Overseas Recruiter Training and Preparation. Every au pair applicant must be interviewed in their home country by a trained representative of Au Pair Foundation. The following materials were created to prepare the recruiters to screen and select only the best applicants.

Website Content Development Content was developed by Viella and designed by Salmonjacket Design. Because Viella was working alone in the initial stages, the website had to contain all the information a potential family, au pair or community representative would need in an easy to follow format. View Website here

Marketing and Advertising. Brochures and print advertising campaigns were designed to attract host families and au pairs. A photo shoot was done to obtain stock images for the various campaigns.
